My dad made this brittle for years. The recipe was in the cookbook that came with our first GE microwave oven. He became famous for it, handing it out to clients and friends at the holidays. I make it now as well. We always used raw peanuts and added them in with the first sugar and syrup cooking stage. For years and years it was 4-4-1 (four minutes, four minutes, one minute). A couple of years ago, I went to a 1200 watt micro and had to reduce the cooking time substantially. Turns out perfect every single time. I'm a little embarrassed to admit how easy it is.
