I have made both the stove top & micro version, and micro wins, hands down.
I think I was robbed when it came to home ec - I only learned sewing. They didn't put me in the cooking class, they put me in woodshop. (which I loved and was the only kid to get a 100% in the class - no one else could remember what caniforous and decidous meant - and I am sure I spelled that incorrectly - woodshop was a long time ago!) And sewing was great, but I WANTED to learn cooking! Good thing I have a mother who is an excellent cook who taught me how to cook, but she didn't teach me how to bake. The one thing she bakes perfectly - every time - is her apple pie. Everything else is not exactly as she would like. So I learned on my own.
I loved the story about Mrs B. We all have a teacher who inspires us and makes us want to do better. Ironically, it was my costume construction (sewing) teacher in college, Mr. Contic.
