I have made this for over 20 years, I have had to adapt it to new microwaves a couple of times over the years. I have used salted roasted peanuts and added them the second 3 min. , my husband likes the salty taste. When I use raw I add them in with the sugar and corn syrup at the beginning. I have a 1000 watt micro and do 3 min and stir, 3 min and add butter and vanilla and then do 2 min and 10 seconds and add soda, I like my brittle to be golden without the burnt sugar taste. I think I will try and do an extra I half tesp of soda to made a lighter brittle. I use a 2 qt, glass measure with a handle, as the bowl get very hot, even with a handle I use a heat pad. I can have a batch ready in 10 minuets. I have two of these measures bowls so I don't have to wait for one bowl to get soaked and washed before I make another batch. Great recipe.
