Did this last Friday fo r our family Thanksgiving. Of course it was a fortunate "problem" . Did this last year, too. BUT, the big problem was the 10in. deep dish pie pan (glass). It took 15 cups of apples that I cooked 8cups at a time . I had a custard cup 3/4 full left over. This filling is fabulous! It was worth every minute of sweat, blood and tears! lol Also made the pumpkin pie from your site. What recipe on the back of what can?.Made it with 1/2 &1/2. Incredible! I will be doing this from now on. If only we had our favorite "pick your own apples" in TX like we did in OH. Least expensive apples were $.99/lb. Granny Smith's were $3.00/ lb. The one pie took 5lbs. of apples. I'm still in sticker shock! BTW, we've been here 35yrs. and this is the first yr. apples have been this pricey the week before Thanksgiving. Are they this high everywhere else? Love every recipe I've ever made from KAF! Thank you to all of you!
