Not to be too picky here, but 1 cup of water, which is 8 fluid ounces, actually weighs 8.321 ounces (avoirdupois), not 8 ounces, so you need to weigh 8 3/8 ounces of water on your scale to check the accuracy of your measuring cups at the 1-cup mark.
