I have shipped baked goods and "really-miss these" items to my daughter over the years while she was stationed in Kuwait and Afghanistan and several state-side locations. Surprisingly, the boxes sent overseas (arriving normally within 5 days) faired better than those on stateside travels. Along with tins, I have also used the more sturdy plastic containers with lids (Rubbermaid or generic brand) which also provided small storage containers after the goodies were consumed and stacked easily into small storage spaces. The troops in the mail room learned to watch for my return address and would hand-deliver the boxes to my daughter, knowing they would be rewarded with a small taste of home.....don't forget our troops, it's the little things that count.
