Kate, bread isn't usually an issue, as it's generally pretty sturdy, and spending 2-3 days in transit really isn't that long. Sourdough bread, especially, is a good keeper. Some suggest freezing it first, then shipping; but I'd just ship it well-wrapped, fresh, then suggest the recipient slice and freeze whatever's not going to be eaten that day or the next. Good luck!
