We had an assignment in HS home ec to pack cookies to send to the USO during the Vietnam war. Wrapping the cookies back to back and wrapping in saran wrap, placing them in an empty coffee can, put a layer of popped corn between them as insulation and then another layer of wrapped cookies. One soldier that got the can of cookies I had wrapped and sent for the Christmas holiday wrote a thank you note stating that not one of them was broken when he opened it. He also asked if I would consent to write to him, which I did. We wrote for a year before he was sent back to the states. We met and dated for another year before we were married. Been together for 45 years now. He said it all happened because he recognized a great chocolate chip cookie when he is given one. I bake often and he still loves his chocolate chips!
