One thing that you have not made clear in this post is that the Priority Mail boxes that you are talking about are Flat Rate boxes. The postal service does have other priority mail boxes available that are based on weight. It would be a big surprise to fill up one of the larger boxes that are not flat rate with goodies and find it to be much more costly.
