If properly packed, you can also mail a pie! Our daughter baked a fresh cherry pie from cherries she picked in Portland, Oregan. She pitted the cherries, made the crust and baked a pie. She packed it in a tupperware comtainer, a flat rate priority box, but shipped to us in Orlando via express mail. Granted, that is expensive, but it was a Father's Day pie. Much to our surprise, it arrived perfectly, as if it just came out of the oven! Good packing is the key and in this case it was probably a record making expensive pie, because she also bought a cherry pitter, the metal pie pan, the tupperware as well as the mailing cost. Still, it was a wonderful surprise and the perfect memory.
