I've substituted butternut (the orange-fleshed) for pie before, and so substituted that for the pumpkin in the donut recipe. They baked up just fine, but I couldn't get any cinnamon-sugar to stick to them. I left them get cool as I was also baking pumpkin pies, is that the problem? I'm not sure about re-warming them, so am going to try a glaze. Don't have any boiled cider so will substitute cream with cinnamon. (The donuts taste great without anything, but what's a donut without a sugar high?!) I love cinnamon, so hopefully this will work! Please address the problem with the sugar sticking.
