I have been wanting to try this recipe since i saw it here last year, bought a nice cake sized donut pan in preparation. I always get the baking bug as soon as fall rolls in, and finally got to make these. Forgot to buy fresh ginger, so added a bit more cinnamon and grated the nutmeg fresh...switched 1/2 cup of brown sugar into the mix. For the sugar coating, i used regular organic cane sugar and put some fresh grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick in the blender~ a whole 'nother layer of sweet yumminess. I found the plastic bag piping method worked well for me too. They are so easy to make, i keep telling myself about all that pumpkin i am eating.... Thank you! They were awesome, i gave a few away, put some in the freezer and ate way too many for dinner.
