Salt is easy to back off on (you might also try taking the baking soda down further, too; a lot of time that comes through as too much salt). Best way to figure out changing pan sizes around is by figuring square inches. Recipe is written for a 150 square inch pan, half of that is 75 square inches. 9" x 9" comes in at 81, and 8" x 8" at 64. So your first try tells us that 6 inches under (the 8" square pan) is probably the better choice for a half recipe. Good luck on the next pass. Susan
