I used to make hermits from my Better Homes and
Gardens cookbook years ago, but they were cookies with brown sugar instead of molasses and walnuts, dates, and raisins, also buttermilk. Everything else was the same except 3 1/2 cups flour. Your recipe sounds more like the bars I used to buy ar the Paisano French Bread Bakery in California. They were so good. I'm going to try your recipe. As I remember the bars were thinner too. Judy
