Wow, so many ideas on apple pie! I love the combo crust - butter and shortening. For a long time I was the only one in my large family of "girls" who could not make a decent pie crust, but that was the "then" and now that has all changed thanks to KAF and all the great tips and recipes. I have to say, I am a Mac or Northern Spy fan - thumbs down to Granny Smith for my pie.
