My "go to" apple pie recipe has three types of apples, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious and MacIntosh, sauté the Granny and Golden's first in butter then tossing with the Mac's. Toss with seasonings before cooking and season Mac's ahead of final toss.. I also use vodka (keep bottle in freezer) for my crust recipe. I have used this recipe for years and would not change a thing.
