We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed this article, Carol! It can really depend on the speed and strength of your mixer, which is why recommend going by how your mixture looks rather than just time. Typically it can take about 3 to 5 minutes for butter and sugar to be fully creamed but we recommend looking to see that the mixture has lightened in color and is fluffy in texture. When adding eggs, you usually add them one at a time and want to mix for about a minute after each addition or until the mixture is fully emulsified again, and be sure to scrape down the bowl often. While adding flour, you want to mix just until everything is incorporated and then scrape the bowl to ensure that there isn't anything on the bottom of the bowl that didn't get fully combined.
