Most often these dense streaks are from over-mixing or from not scraping the mixing bowl well while incorporating ingredients. Has your mixing method changed at all? Maybe a new mixer? We'd recommend creaming your sugar and butter until they're light and fluffy, but not for so long that the mixture starts to deflate.
