OMG I have been looking for this EVERY where and I couldn't find anything! Until you!! And I simply searched"mix sugar and butter". Thank you so much for explaining this crazy phenomenon. I kept thinking "was my cake not rising? Am I not adding enough baking soda baking powder, etc.?" But no, I guess I was mixing at too high a speed. Thank you very much. I am ready to try again from scratch!
