Hi Jon. We are sorry to hear about the results you experienced. A gummy cake can be caused by quite a few things...the mixing process, the amount (and type) of flour being used (measured by weight vs. volume), oven temperature, baking time, etc. As for the funny taste, that is hard to diagnose without knowing some more information.
