I was happy to read this! Anadama was the first bread I ever made. When I was a young teenager, I was really into learning to do "old fashioned" things. I wanted to do the Thanksgiving dinner one year, and make everything from scratch, right down to making the bread for the Turkey stuffing. I had somewhere come across the old story about Anadama bread, and since it was very New Englandy, I decided this was the bread I wanted to use. I had no clue what I was doing, but since my mom was a "from scratch" cook and baker, I guess I was confidant it would come out right. It did! It seemed too nice to cut up and dry it for stuffing, so I decided to serve it as bread, and compromised on using store-bought french bread for stuffing. My family and aunts and uncles loved the bread, even though it was heavier than dinner rolls, which most people were used to in Colorado. I think I will make this for Thanksgiving this year!
