Not a silly question at all, John. While you could cut your roll-out cookies out right on the parchment you bake on, you would have to cut them further apart to allow for some spread during baking. The cookies shown here were going into the fridge for chilling before being baked off, and once chilled, the individual cookies are much easier to move around without bending or breaking. Mollie@KAF
