Hi, Nancy! If your chocolate didn't harden right away, it likely wasn't fully tempered. You're looking for "shine, set, and snap." If one of those is missing, you'll likely find that the chocolate, however glossy at first, will bloom and become dull or chalky in texture within a few days.
