This looks so good. I have a question. We had so many apples this Fall, I made, and froze, many packages of apple pie filling. I have been looking for things to make that are different from apple pie to use up some of the filling. I used Instant Clear Jel in the filling so it isn't runny. Do you think the filling would work in this recipe as a substitute for the layer of apples? Instead of the cut up apples I would top the bread with the apple filling. I would probably need to keep the filling a little thinner than the layer of apples in the recipe above since the filling is moist. My concern is that the filling may be too moist and would make the french toast layer soggy.
