Hi Chrysoulla, We compared the results of an all-butter crust vs. a butter/shortening crust for this experiment, as we don't have a recipe that exclusively calls for shortening. You're more than welcome to use only shortening to make your pie crust if you've found you like the results, but we like the creamy flavor of butter, too. Therefore, we usually use at least some butter in our crusts for good measure. Happy baking! Kye@KAF
