I just made my first loaf of salt-risen bread (we called it that rather than salt-rising bread) and it turned out perfectly. My Mother made it frequently when I was growing up and I always loved it. I've always thought it had a delicious smell and taste. I was afraid of trying it myself because it sounded so difficult but I followed the directions in detail and I used my "electric proofer" which helps all my bread turn out perfectly. It was a little pricey but now, I don't know what I ever did without it. So here's to salt-risen bread and an electric proofer!!
