Hi Tea, because the baked doughnut recipes are more like a batter they don't adapt well to frying. I would recommend trying either our Old Fashioned Cake Doughnut recipe or our Yeast-Raised Doughnut recipe, and perhaps substituting 1/4 boiled cider for a portion of the liquid called for in these recipes. Top them often with the maple glaze from this recipe and you'll have yourself some delicious doughnuts!
