Hi Lenora. Whole wheat loaves can take a very long time to rise, but it sounds like it may have been lacking some moisture. Next time, make sure your dough is tacky like a piece of tape and fairly soft when you poke it, like your cheek. If it's too dense, firm, or dry, that's a sign that there's too much flour, and extra water will be a big help. Annabelle@KAF
