Could this be done on the stovetop instead of the microwave? I don't see why not; simmer gently until the mixture becomes a bit syrupy, then refrigerate. Just watch closely, to make sure it simmers gently and doesn't burn; that's why I prefer the microwave, there's very little chance of scorching. Let us know how it comes out, OK? PJH
