I froze the filled and frosted cake uncovered for 2 hours, then wrapped it in plastic wrap and aluminum foil. It unwraps perfectly and looks beautiful. The recipe and blog post both state several times that the filled cake can be frozen, and I can confirm that it's fantastic and refreshing served directly from the freezer.
