Hi Marianne, you would probably need at least 1 1/2 pounds of fresh spinach to cook down to 1 1/2 cups cooked (perhaps a bit more, since this recipe calls for squeezing out the moisture). However, you could certainly use cooked frozen chopped spinach for this recipe.
