I just made these for X-mas and they were fantastic (reminded me of my mom's)! I used whole milk, added tsp dried sage, and 2 cups sauteed onions (in butter). I prepped them the day before & they baked up great! I have had problems with gray potatoes in the past, but not this time. I used Yukon potatoes (parboiled in stainless steel pot), and dried well (in salad spinner). Thanks so much for posting.
