Hi JoAnne, We're sorry this recipe didn't work out as expected. It does sound like you baked them enough. Bread will always seem gummy or doughy when it's hot. We recommend letting your bread cool completely, allowing all the starches to fully gelatinize. Once it cools, it shouldn't be gummy anymore. We hope this help and happy baking!
