Hi Rachel,
Yes, you can try some starter in this recipe. Remove 1/4 cup of the water and 1/2 cup of the flour and replace it with one cup of your fed, ripe starter. Keep the regular yeast in the recipe and you should get a good rise and nice tangy, cheesy flavor.
