We've had good success with this addition, Clair, but it's important to keep in mind that not all pumpkin puree has the same moisture content. If you have any reason to think yours is on the wetter side (or you're using fresh puree), it can help to heat up the pumpkin a bit, stirring to allow some of the moisture to evaporate out before incorporating it into your fudge.
