Have you ever used spiced rum in this recipe? I'm wondering if that would add too much flavor. I have no reason to skip the alcohol but I've never been a fan of it in baked goods. I've used both, and personally I like the regular rum better. It is more like what I grew up with and it doesn't overpower the nutmeg. ~ MaryJane
