Add another October baby to the list - I'm here because I'm making this for my husband's birthday; his yearly standard. While I am in LOVE with your cake and pastry cream recipe (though I did add two extra egg yolks, because I can't help myself that way based on a recipe I've used for BCP and cream puffs for years) but had significant issues with the glaze. :( Per the recipe as written I ended up with basically a thick (tasty!) hot chocolate rather than a ganache. After nearly doubling the chocolate (I used semisweet mini chips that were on hand) I finally got the texture I was looking for. Very odd.
But wow, that PC recipe is a winner, even if it is smooshing out of the cake as we speak. I'd call this "baking girl problems" - ie, not something I'm super concerned about. ;)
