My mother used to make BCP from a mix (might have been Betty Crocker) in the early 60's. I LOVED this cake. Just saw this recipe and immediately went to work....its in the oven as I write this. Pastry cream is cooling off in the fridge..can't wait to eat the finished product! I vaguely remember that mix too, but so glad you're jumping in with the homemade version to go down memory lane.
