What are the pros/cons of using SAF Gold in place of SAF Red in low sugar recipes? I'm going to run out of my freezer stash of Red long before the Gold; should I buy more Red, or can I use the Gold?
Look over your recipe to see how much flour is needed - then look at the sugar amounts. If the amount of sugar is over 1 tablespoon per cup of flour you can use the gold yeast. If the amount of sugar is less than this, save the gold yeast for sweet dough recipes. Happy Baking! Irene @ KAF
