Oh wow! Being a neophyte (which doesn't stop me from trying this anyway after I successfully made starter) I had no idea how to shape a loaf. I thought I just split it in half and kind of shaped it with my hands. Watched the video. Now I get it! No wonder my dough was so weird. Punched it back down to rise a bit and did it according to the video this time. Loaves look much better although they are spreading. Oh well. First time so we'll see what happens! I can always do it again. It's only bread and water (and starter) after all.
