Hello Elizabeth and Laurie, SUCCESS!!!!! I used 1/2 whole wheat flour and, as suggested, used bread flour for about 1/2 the white flour. I upped the sugar to 1 1/2 T. I did raise the temperature as you suggested to 450° and had the oven on for about 45 minutes before putting the bread in. Totally impressed. The loaves rose wonderfully and browned nicely. I have to say that without this blog I would not have succeeded. I've read a lot of different recipes for starter and SD bread. This is the only one that made sense. The pictures were essential! Thank you so much for the help.
