Hi Dona, if you choose to start the starter with the smaller feeding it would be 1 TBSP starter to 1 TBSP water to 2 TBSP flour. You can eventually get to our standard feeding of 1/2 cup starter to 1/2 cup water to 1 cup flour. At this time we do not have any sourdough starter recipes that call for sugar. Hope this helps!
