Have you had different results depending on the water you use? I was given a sourdough starter and started feeding it equal weights flour and water and had the hardest time getting it healthy, I looked everywhere for tips and one person in a video mentioned tap water often has chlorine in it, so using distilled or purified water is better. I got some distilled water and the very next feeding my starter doubled easily.
I didn't make a note of the temperature of the water however, the distilled was at room temp but my tap water may not have been. Do you think my results were from the water change or more likely from temperature?
