Hi Shar! We'd recommend giving the starter a feeding before handing it over, and then you can send your friend to the Maintain page of our Sourdough Guide to follow from there. You can give it to them hungry, just make sure they know they need to feed it right away. The guide includes tons of tips, videos, and an extensive FAQ's page for them to consult. Annabelle@KAF
