I'm just starting this new baking adventure. I've read the booklet that came with the starter. Then came to this site to learn more. The FAQ are so helpful. I, too, misunderstood the booklet. I thought I was supposed remove 4 oz and discard it, then add 4 oz of water and flour to what was remaining in the crock. Now I understand that I remove 4 oz, add the flour and water to that 4 oz and discard what is left in the crock. Then I put the new mixture back into the crock until the next feeding. Right? I do have a couple of questions. When I feed the starter, can I use tap water? Does it need to be lukewarm when your are feeding it?
