When you've discarded a cup of starter and fed the remainder 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup water (then wait 4 - 12 hours) it's considered fed. It should increase in volume and show a lot of bubbles on the surface (more than 2 or 3!). Happy Baking - Irene@KAF
