I have had a really terrific, healthy, consistent, reliable starter (over a year old) that that recently "overgrew" - meaning it bubbled up way more than usual or expected two days in a row, and now had developed a surprisingly thick white fuzzy mold (a first ever for me!). I am, sadly, throwing it away, but curious what might have gone awry. Am guessing perhaps the recent heat wave has made it a bit warmer in the kitchen than I even realized. I had it on the counter with daily feedings because I was going to be baking with it this week. But the mold threw me for a loop....
