Hi Maggie, you may want to store your starter in your oven with the oven's light on. Lots of home bakers find this method gets their starter to a temperature of around 75 degrees which is ideal for encouraging vigorous fermentation. To give your starter a boost, you can substitute whole wheat or pumpernickel flour for all purpose flour for one of the feedings, then return back to all purpose flour for the next feeding. These flours offer a higher content of wild yeast which will enhance activity in your starter. And of course, call our free Baker's Hotline at 855-371-2253 for further assistance.
