Hey Lisa! Bread flour can be used to feed a sourdough starter but because it has a higher amount of starch, it may be a bit less active than described in this article. When creating a new sourdough culture, we do highly recommend starting initially with a whole grain flour, like whole wheat or rye. Whole grain flours have extra nutrients from the whole kernel that help provide the new starter an extra boost.
