Hi there, Lisa! You can use bread flour to feed a sourdough starter but it has a higher amount of starch, so you may see that it's a bit less active than described. We do highly recommend creating your starter initially with a whole grain flour, such as whole wheat or rye. The extra nutrients provided by having the whole wheat kernel in these flours helps to get the starter going. We hope this can help and happy baking!
